ALL THE POLISHES!

Ah, new toys.  I just got a new light box and tonight was the first chance I've had to really try it out.  To say I'm quite happy with the results would be an understatement.  Holy crap, y'all.

These needed zero color correction. Zero.  For the life of me, I couldn't get enough light into my homemade light box and needed to take zillions of photos to end up with one or two that could be photoshopped into decency.  I could find no location inside or out of the house at any time of day with or without the light box that yielded the results I was looking for.  What can I say, I'm a little bit of a perfectionist.

In case you're wondering, these are swatches of all my polishes.  My favorite part is the multichrome rainbow:

So. Pretty.

I'll admit the process and result of swatching  my polishes totally appealed to my nerdy side.  I love to organize.  These are being stored on binder rings, arranged by color and finish.  And yes, I bought a label maker specifically for this purpose.  Okay, I've been wanting one for a while anyway, this was just a good excuse.

Also, I just want to mention that I've created a Facebook page and a Pinterest page for this blog.  They can be found at www.facebook.com/ColorHappyNails and pinterest.com/colorhappynails/

  1. I did that last month too! But i just wrote the brands and the names by hand, i just enjoy the process very much, since I've been doing most of my studies on my laptop since i started studying in university :) I love you multichrome rainbow! Any chance to know what the polishes are? I only managed to decypher that the polish closest to us is a Darling Diva :)

ps you may want to turn off captcha bc it really annoys people and puts them off of commenting :)

    1. Thanks for the advice :) I'm relatively new to blogging, so I'm sure there's tons of stuff I should add or change that just hasn't occurred to me.

The duochromes are, top to bottom: OPI Just Spotted the Lizard, Pure Ice Saddle Me Up, Pure Ice Twisted, Ulta Jaded, Ludurana Show, Sally Hansen Lapis Amethyst, Nubar Iris Dust, Sally Hansen Amber Ruby, Sally Hansen Lava, Hard Candy Beetle, and Darling Diva Ringer.

I swatched the two Pure Ices a few days ago and the color shift doesn't really translate on the nail.

  2. hi! i found you from ravelry since i am also part of the polish group there. nice to find another knitter and polish lover. these pics are awesome. i have been meaning to put in an order for swatch sticks at some point. my polish organization is terrible right now.

do you mind telling me what lightbox you got? i have been thinking of getting one, too, but know nothing about them. i like the results you got here.

keep up the good work and see you on rav!

    1. Another Raveler! <3

I got a very basic 12 inch light box sold by CowboyStudio on Amazon. It was about $15, not including shipping, so it's a pretty good deal if you're looking for something simple that won't break the bank. I also picked up a couple of cheapo lamps at Walmart and some "daylight" CFL bulbs.
